  • WORK HISTORY:

    Montgomery Purdue Blankinship & Austin PLLC, 1972-present; Judge Advocate, U.S. Air Force, 1968-72.

  • EXPERIENCE:
    His practice initially emphasized commercial litigation. During the past fifteen years, his practice has emphasized business, commercial, real estate and financing transactions. He has served as "outside" general counsel to a number of medium size businesses, providing general legal advice. He has over the years represented general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and owners.

  • ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION EXPERIENCE:
    In the last ten years, he has served as an arbitrator in approximately 60 commercial, construction, or real estate disputes under the authority of the American Arbitration Association, the King County Superior Court Mandatory Arbitration Program or by private agreement. He currently serves on the AAA Large Complex Case Panel. In the last five years, he has served as a mediator in approximately 30 mediations involving commercial, construction or real estate disputes on behalf of AAA or by private engagement. The amount at stake in arbitrations and mediations has ranged from a low of $2,000 to a high of $16,000,000.

  • ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION TRAINING:
    Attended AAA Construction Industry Mediator Training May 28-30, 1997; Attended AAA Training for Construction Industry Arbitrators, January 1997; Faculty, AAA Introductory Arbitrator Training, 1995; Attended AAA Large Complex Case Panel Training, 1993; Faculty, AAA Basic Arbitrator Training courses, 1988, 1991, 1993, and 1994; Faculty, Construction Advocacy Workshop for Arbitration, 1991. Since 1980, he has taught many Continuing Legal Education Seminars on Mandatory Arbitration in the Superior Court.

    Admitted to the Washington State Bar Association in 1968 and to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in 1973.

Published numerous articles in local or state legal periodicals in the past fifteen years on a variety of subjects relating to the legal profession.

    Hourly Rate: $220 per hour, negotiable.
